What we did in 2023 - biggest moments!
Free up…mind, body & soul
In 2023 we were awarded funding from OUR VOICE OUR CHOICE OUR CITY participatory budgeting session.
The aim of the project was to support local businesses and offer some of the most deprived and culturally diverse areas of the Newport communities free introduction to and participation in arts, skills, well-being projects and workshops with one to one and group tuition and support.
The workshops were attended by hundreds of individuals and in collaboration with local organisations and businesses. Barnabas Arts House Gallery, Robbins Lane Studios, Gallery 57, Our Chartist Heritage Charity, Newport Rising, Nettle & Bark, River Folk Pottery, YMCO, The Roots, Roma Community group, GAP centre and more.

Women of newport international women’s day celebrations and our official launch event
On the 10th March 2023 we organised our mini event celebrating International Women’s Day, but also used the opportunity to officially launch Women of Newport new board and plans for 2023.
We received our very first funds – three exactly and we were super excited to share the great news!
We also displayed Women of Newport first exhibition for the day as a surprise.
The event was organised at the Barnabas Arts House Gallery, our official hub at the time with Jan Martin, who was also our board member.
Women of newport monthly meetings 2023
In 2023 we went back to organising our monthly networking and socialising meetings. We had our special guest in September Danielle Webb who spoke about her book and dwarfism awareness campaigns. We linked again with our friends from Riot City Ravens and met new women.
Our meetings were supported and hosted by Geshmak Cafe, Bar and Bistro.
We are coming back with more from April 2024.
