Since 2019, Women of Newport has been supporting and being involved with the community — from photography exhibitions celebrating local women to organising creative workshops, events and responding to local needs.
We’ve supported women in sport, partnered on the first TEDx Casnewydd, welcomed refugees, and stood with Ukraine. Whether leading our own projects or collaborating with others, we’re here to uplift, connect, and empower our community — whenever and wherever we’re needed.

Since 2019, we’ve created three editions of this project, featuring over 70 women/group of women. Our latest Community Champions exhibition was displayed at the Pierhead Building in Cardiff for International Women’s Day Celebrations in 2024.

Free Art Workshops
We’ve hosted over 50 free art workshops for the Newport community — from writing and pottery to wreath-making and watercolours. A creative space to connect, heal, and thrive after the pandemic.
Danielle, dwarfism awareness days & Little People charity
Since 2022 we support Danielle and her initiatives and events highlighting and educating about dwarfism.
In May 2024 we spoke for the community by running an event at the Senedd, highlighting the importance of supporting volunteers and their work.
Hear Our voice
Telling Inspiring Stories
We shared the journeys of 10 Polish women to challenge stereotypes and post-Brexit discrimination. We also invited leaders from various groups to share their perspectives during the official launching event in 2023.
Supporting local women in sport – Newport City Ladies FC club and Riot City Ravens
Supporting local women in sport by photographing them, campaigning for finding the potential sponsors, sharing their stories and highlighting the discriminations and issues they are facing in modern times.
Extending Our Support: Joining Women’s Campaigns Beyond Newport
On 17th November 2023, for International Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day, local woman Dawn Clayton spoke at the Houses of Parliament, advocating for early diagnosis and better clinical pathways. We joined her in London for a day, highlighted it on our platforms and photographed it.

COVID-19 PANDEMIC, 2020
Women of newport & feed newport
During the pandemic, we partnered with Feed Newport to support the elderly residents in need in Pill area.
Women of Newport – Donation Centres
In February 2022, we launched South Wales’ largest Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. With the help of hundreds of volunteers and local partners, we organised and delivered tonnes of essential donations and medical aid to Ukraine.

In May 2022, we hosted a thank-you party at the Westgate Hotel for our amazing volunteers, sponsors, and supporters. We also welcomed the first in Newport Ukrainian refugees, helping them feel part of our community.
COVID-19 PANDEMIC, 2020
Santa Comes to Pill, Newport
In December 2021, Santa arrived in style on an American police motorbike! Over 100 children visited his grotto at the Phyllis Maud Building for gifts, photos, and festive fun.
